CHAPTER 6
Read “The Winter Journal”, pages 89-104.
Today is the first day of December! As Clare mentioned in “Keeping a Nature Journal”, winter is a good time to learn about
the basics of nature. While studying
this book, I’m think more towards that direction. Instead of seeing the surroundings as gray
and lamenting about the leaves that have fallen from deciduous trees, I am appreciating
the structures of them. In my enthusiasm,
I am photographing the colorful changes of various trees in my yard and
collecting leaves. Now, for the drawing
portion! *giggles*

It is a joy to see birds that are here during this season,
and to hear their melodious calls.
People for many centuries have sought to keep the winter
cold and dark at bay, and encourage the sun to return by putting candles in
windows and lighting bonfires. It is amazing to observe their moods while preparing
and decorating for numerous celebrations.
